Blog Seven: Chapter 7
Chapter seven in the Bedford Book of Genres discusses how to integrate and document sources in order to avoid plagiarism. This chapter also shows you how to cite sources within your writing using MLA and APA styles because they are the two most common types of citations. Integrating sources into your writing not only helps provide credible evidence and/or context on your ideas, but it also allows for readers to find more information on your topic. There are different ways of integrating sources into your writing such as: quotations, paraphrasing, and summarizing; each has a different level of substance. It is also important to be aware of when to use each of the different ways of integrating the sources, this way you can maintain the flow and tone of you’re writing without making it unclear to the reader when you are using an outside source.
