Blog Ten: Viral Marketing

The recent increase in social media use within the past few years has also lead to the increase (and success) of viral marketing. Viral marketing is how some companies and sponsors have been advertising to people of typically younger generations. Viral marketing has many different genres and can be seen/presented across multiple platforms. This is how it’s related to Project 3. When sponsors gear their marking strategy toward their audience in a way that is most appealing, they are more likely to have influence on whether or not the consumer will buy the product or not. For example, you are more likely to see an ad for student housing on your personal Facebook page rather than on cable television. With project 3, the revision/ remix should be intended for a certain audience for both parties involved to get the most out of it.
