Blog Nine: Chapter 9

My attitude toward revision varies with each essay. Normally, I don’t mind having to revise because I know there’s always something wrong with my paper. When this happens I’m typically revising to get the grade. In high school, I only wrote one draft (unless multiple drafts were required), and more often than not I wrote the paper in one sitting. The majority of the time I would get an A on the paper so I never had a second thought about not writing a paper in one sitting. Over the past few months of being required to write multiple drafts, I prefer “Revising Based on Your Own Observations” rather than “Revising Based on Peer Review.” Even though a second pair of eyes may have a different perspective on the essay than you, sometimes the peer won’t be as “harsh” when suggesting ways to change your writing.
